The other day, I was talking with a nurse leader who is encountering some very challenging situations in her work environment that are testing her leadership. In the course of our discussion, she spent a great deal of time discussing her weaknesses relative to other leaders in her organization. I asked her about her nursing management strengths. It took her a few minutes to answer this because she had obviously not done much reflection in this area. Most of us do spend a great deal of time worrying about what we are missing, and less time considering our areas of strength.
