Current reports from the Centers for Disease Control show 1:88 children have autism or an autism related disorder. One of five pervasive developmental delays, autism affects several domains of development resulting in substantial communication, social and behavioural abnormalities. It is more than five times more prevalent in males (Anon 2012). There is no known cause or cure. Ten to thirty percent of children with autism also have epilepsy (Gabis et al. 2005) making it the most common co-morbid condition.
