The Importance of Active Listening in Nursing Communication

Active Listening 02.jpgActive listening is one of the most important aspects of nursing communication. Here’s a short anecdote to illustrate my point:

Recently, I was in the middle of a phone conversation with a friend when I found my mind drifting off, thinking about the many things I had to do. I’m not sure how many seconds had passed when I realized I’d hardly heard a thing she said. And I was only brought back into the conversation when she asked, “Don’t you agree?”
