In 23 years, I have seen a lot of various situations but one will always stand out in my mind for several reasons. That is the time I witnessed one of my colleagues become mentally ill. No amount of knowledge could have prepared me for what was about to happen and since then, few things rival this event.
It all began about 12 years ago. I was working in a large city with a talented team of experts on a psychiatric mental health floor. We worked like a well-oiled machine. Not that there were not days we were not on our A-game but mostly, we were all very close and forgiving, rolling with the punches of working a psychiatric childrenís unit.
