It was over seven years ago but the events that occurred that spring of 2007 seem like only yesterday. It’s funny how your life can be changed in an instant. Mine came with a glance from a concerned physician. This story is my personal experience with breast cancer and my struggle on the other end as a patient.
Being a nurse for over fifteen years, I had plenty of experience with taking care of others. I had four children, a husband, and a home to take care of. This is what nurses and mothers do. When I got the news that a good friend of mine, also a nurse, had found lumps in her breast and her mom had died from breast cancer, I figured it was my time to take care of her. I started right away with a card and flowers.
